His Child

“For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”

Hebrews 12:6 NLT

You ever just look at your life situation and think, “why do I have to go through this?”

Well, I have been through plenty of those moments, including now. None of us are perfect, but do you ever feel as if God is being harder on you than other people? Yeah, yeah, I know, we are not to compare, but it’s what we naturally do. God allows us to go through certain things to learn lessons and to also learn to lean and depend on him.

Well, I just wanted to come with some encouragement today. God doesn’t want you to continue to live in a way that is unpleasing to him or move in a way not beneficial to your purpose. He also wants to get you to a place that he has prepared for you. In order to do this, he must mold and shape you. One of the ways he does this is by discipline. Just imagine a mother or father who allows their child to do whatever they want to do with no discipline. That child would most likely get hurt a lot more. They would probably grow up to be entitled or they may not be able to take correction, at all, by that point. They would probably still operate as a child in an adult body. They would do whatever they pleased even if it wasn’t good for them.

Well, God cares too much about you to let you continue as an entitled and careless child. He wants you to grow up… and that means spiritually. He disciplines you because he cares about you and he wants you to grow into something much more beautiful. Something for his own very special purpose.

So today, learn the lessons and see God’s discipline as love.
