Focus

Hey y’all!Happy 2019 🎊🎉

At the end of 2018, I was invited to do a devotional called “one word that will change your life” by Jon Gordon. It’s basically about getting one word from God and letting that word permeate your year and even your life!

This year and moving forward, my word is “FOCUS.” I will focus on God and his plans for my life. This will include my call/purpose, my health, my finances, my family and my friends. Whatever area I can think of, I am going to focus on making it the best that it can be.

A great tool that has catapulted me into focus this year is beginning 21 days of fasting and prayer. Two times a year, my church has a corporate fasting and prayer period. I’ll admit, I started a week early. I was just too excited to get focused on God 😆.

Yesterday morning, I wrote down some things that I wanted from God and some ways that I needed to hear him. Well let me tell you… God moved expeditiously!

One thing I want you to take away from this is, God will provide when you obey and focus on HIS plans. The things that I wrote on my prayer list were not new. They were things that I had lost focus of. I wrote them down again and told myself that they will be accomplished and I will get answers. Well, God heard and he answered! These things did not come wrapped in the way that I expected them. And that’s the beauty of it! I was even trying to get rid of some things that God had already positioned in my life, but he revealed their purpose! I wasn’t even expecting it!

God is showing me so much in this season. Some are:

1. Stay focused on Him

2. He hears me

3. His timing is not my own

4. He will provide

His word said to seek first his kingdom and righteousness and all our needs will be added! I can testify that his word does not come back void!

With focus, God is taking me to new levels in him. For that, I am thankful.

Today, focus may not be your exact word, but God wants your focus and attention! He wants to move you to new levels!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT

  1. I love having a word for the year. I’m still seeking God about my personal word for this year. Last year I had two so we’ll see! Focus was mine a few years ago! Colossians 3:1-3 ..glad you’re already seeing God move!

      1. I just came to the site to see the other post we just talked about and clicked on this one because I never knew you wrote back. I set it so that it would email me when you comment but I guess I’ll have to check that setting. With that noted, if you wrote back on my other comments and I was silent, I just never saw it lol..

To your question, I did! My words were rhythm and resolve for 2018. We did an activity last March where all the ladies shared their word for the year so I mentioned that again during the June gathering! 🙂
