Romans 3:23 (NLT): For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Today, I want to quickly remind you of the awesomeness of God’s grace. Through his word, God lets us know that NO ONE meets his standard. You can try your best to be perfect, but you will never be. I don’t know about you, but I am so glad that God does not expect me to be perfect. Often, we become overwhelmed with life and the things that we go through. We make mistakes and then try to fix them ourselves. Sometimes, we even try and hide our mistakes from God. The pressure to do everything right begins to weigh us down. We must realize that God isn’t some evil tyrant. He isn’t sitting high waiting for us to mess up so that he can throw down the iron rod.
God’s love for us is so immense, it can sometimes be hard to fathom. How could someone love and forgive us no matter what we have done? Well, the first thing that we must understand about grace is that it saved us when we believed. It is not something that we can take credit for because it is a gift from God. Now, this is not a free pass to do whatever we want. The Father gave his one and only son, Jesus, to bear the burden of our sins. Christ shed his blood so that we could be saved, We are no longer be bound by the law. God tells us to take his yoke upon ourselves and we will find rest. He says that the burden he gives us is light. Although we are undeserving, we must accept the gift that God has freely given to us.
So today, I encourage you to examine your situation. What burden/burdens are you are trying to carry yourself? What have you done that you’re beating yourself up about? God doesn’t ask you to be perfect, he just wants your obedience. Give it to him today and feel the weight be lifted! God Bless.
