Okay, I’ve got to get something off my chest…
Your girl is tired! Again!
Being used by God IS NOT EASY. So many people desire it. We talk and sing so nonchalantly about wanting to be used, but are we really ready to be used by the all knowing one? I am coming to realize that we sometimes don’t really understand what we are asking for. I know it’s been that way for me anyway. Somehow, I thought I could be used and get the easy assignment.
**NEWSFLASH** There is no easy assignment.
Being used by God often requires you to do things that are undesirable. Like REALLY undesirable. It can even sometimes make you look foolish while you endure. But because you know you’re being used by God, you have to keep the course. Others may say, just quit or do this or do that, but God warns for us to not use our own understanding.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
I cannot be led by emotions. That’s hard to do in a world full of emotionally driven people. God tells us that the heart is the most deceitful of all things…
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 22:14
I have been studying that lately. I finally get it. Many are called, meaning Jesus invites us all into relationship with him. Some of us come to him, but very few actually accept the call after we come.
I know why…because it requires us to be crushed. We must live by his standards and not our own. We must suffer just as Christ did. Our lives are no longer our own. Many people aren’t down for giving up their life…
For me, it feels necessary to answer the call. It’s also scary. God has made it abundantly clear to me that he is the only way. I will never fully be satisfied not being what he created me for. Obedience is key. Sometimes I feel like the crushing will never end. But God also tells me not to get weary in well doing. In due time, there will be a harvest of blessing to reap. I must keep going…
So, although your situation may not be exactly like mine, I know what it’s like to get tired of being on the path God has set you on. God promises to renew your strength. He encourages you to trust in him. Cast all your cares upon him. He cares for you. He will never fail you! Today, I choose to trust God. I know, without a doubt, nothing else will fill me like he can.
How will you trust God today?
Stephanie, once again I very much needed this post and I appreciate your wisdom and insight here. Particularly when you broke down your thoughts on what it means to be called vs. what it means to be chosen.
I am trusting God today by activating wisdom, restraint, and remaining encouraged and prayerful even in the midst of a storm. I’m also trusting Him by waiting on His instructions and not making a move until He speaks. 🙂
